Are you an avid Gran Fondo racer and looking to expand your horizons? Colombia has four classic Gran Fondos that you can ride. With our specific Gran Fondo training camps we book your spot on the starting list of the Gran Fondo ride of your choice and prepare you on the bike for the event. Over the course of one week you will train like you’re a pro. At the end of this training you will be ready to battle against the best locals for the victory in the Gran Fondo race. Gran Fondos are mass participation cycling events that follow a beautiful course. Thousands of other riders ranging from beginners to pro participate in a festival atmosphere of spectators and volunteers. A Gran Fondo offers some of the most enjoyable challenges you can experience on two wheels. There are food and drink stations along the way, as well as mechanical and medical backup that will guarantee that everyone will have a good time. Colombia has some great and profesional Gran Fondo's with of course lots of climbing. Which one will be you choose?
L'Etape Colombia
This Tour de France style Gran Fondo takes place in the city of eternal spring. Medellin is nestled amongst 1800 meter high mountains and is a great place to ride your bike. There are climbs everywhere you look, and the weather is always pleasantly warm. The Gran Fondo is 138 kilometers long with over 2700 meters of vertical climbing. To prepare you for the event, we will ride for a week in the surrounding area. We will stay in a great resort/hotel and at night you will enjoy the amazing cuisine the city has to offer.
Gran Fondo Boyaca Mundial
Boyaca is known as the heart of cycling culture in Colombia due to the fact that a huge number of professional cyclists coming from this region. Nairo Quintana, Lucho Herrera, Fabio Parra and Miguel Angel Lopez are just a few of the riders who have competed on the Pro circuit. The Gran Fondo Boyaca will be held in the same area as the World Championships of 1995, in Duitama, where Abraham Olano became world champion. The ride is 130km long and has more than 3300 meters of climbing! Before the race, we will discover the beauty of Boyaca and visit some of the most amazing colonial villages while staying in boutique hotels.
La Ruta Gran Fondo Colombia
La Ruta has been Colombia's most popular Gran Fondo's for good reason. In previous years the race has been held in Cartagena, Bogota and Medellin. In 2018 the race will be hosted by the city of Cali. The race is 190 kms however the climbing is limited to 1500 meters. In preparation for this Grand Fondo we will train in areas between Bogota and Cali so that you can enjoy the diversity of this country. We will climb over multiple Andes mountain ranges and descend into beautiful valleys.
Grand Fondo New York - Colombia Edition
The Gran Fondo New York (GFNY) is a series of races that are hosted all over the globe. In 2019 the race in Colombia is the official Latin American Championship. This Gran Fondo has the highest mountain finish. Starting just outside of Bogota, the race will go over the famous La Cuchilla climb, reaching more than 3300 meters at the top. To prepare you for this Gran Fondo, we will have our altitude training camp around Bogota, with long climbs and high-altitude. The city is a great place to stay with five star cuisine and hotels.
